Opera Mississauga
Dwight Bennett
General & Artistic Director
October 15, 2002

“Thank you so very much for your excellent ballet work for the Zrinjski production. As always, the public loved your ballets and I enjoyed conducting the lovely and talented dancers. The professionalism and understanding of the opera and ballet was of the first order.”

“Once again, please extend on behalf of Opera Mississauga our best wishes to all the dancers and many other people such as Zlatko and parents behind the scenes.”

“I hope you will agree to continue to work on many future projects together.”

“And the equally non-professional dancers of the Rajka Kupesic Ballet were also effective with the simple but properly classical steps their director had provided them. All too often these days, choreographers, such as Katherine Dunham in one of the more recent Metropolitan Opera productions, try to play anthropologist and correct the opera’s dances. But Verdi wrote 19th century ballet music and it still works best to 19th century ballet steps.”

“Also noteworthy were the young dancers from Mississauga’s Rajka Kupesic School of Classical Ballet, who show a great deal of finesse in the scene about young girl’s love for a matador.”

“Rajka Kupesic is a close friend. She is warm and giving. Her instinctiveness and humanity touched me deeply. She is The Artist.”
